Why this actually works
It comes down to how the heat hits the plastic. These shortwave infrared emitters don’t just “warm up” the PET preform—they hit it hard and fast. When you bump up the wattage or tighten the voltage specs, you’re basically forcing more energy into the plastic. The result? Your preforms reach blowing temperature in a few seconds less. It’s a small window of time, but when you multiply that by thousands of bottles, it adds up fast. Just a heads-up: if you’re on a 220V or 380V system, make sure your tube wattage matches your power supply. If you don’t, you’ll just burn them out early.
The nitty-gritty on the hardware
We use high-purity quartz glass because it doesn’t crack when things get hot and cold quickly. Some of our tubes even have special coatings that help the plastic absorb the heat more efficiently. As for the installation, it’s pretty painless. We mostly use R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re basically “plug and play.” If the footprint matches your current sockets, you can just pop them in. No need to tear apart your control cabinet or spend a weekend rewiring everything.
A quick reality check
Shaving a couple of seconds off your cycle is great for your daily bottle count. But there is a catch. More power means more ambient heat. If you go too heavy on the wattage, your cooling fans might struggle to keep up. You don’t want your surrounding electronics cooking themselves just to get a few more bottles per hour.
