
We built our decorative space heaters around a halogen quartz tube core. The whole idea is simple: give you focused, radiant heat without the bulk of a big convection system. These are direct-wire, high-intensity heaters, made to slip cleanly into fixtures where you need serious output, rock-solid reliability, and heat that shows up fast. Here’s the deep dive, without the fluff. A typical tube is 300mm and runs at 2500W on 400V. That power density is why the heat comes on fast—no waiting around. You flip it on, you feel it. And that 400V rating? It keeps the current lower, so you can keep wires and contacts manageable, even in tight enclosures. The materials matter. Halogen quartz holds up under high heat and shrugs off thermal shock from all those on/off cycles. The quartz envelope also supports the internal halogen cycle, which keeps the element clean and the output steady over time. We pair the tube with an R7s connector—a bi-pin end-cap that makes this a straight drop-in for standard halogen fixtures. No custom sockets. Just wire it up. In decorative heating, you want heat where you aim it, with a footprint that stays small. Shortwave radiant heat warms people and surfaces directly, not the air, so the response is immediate. That’s the upside. But there’s a trade-off. With that much heat density, you do need to space fixtures properly and keep things ventilated. That keeps nearby materials from getting too hot. Plan the layout, give it room to breathe, and you’re set.
