If you’re running Krones Contiforms or SACMI machines, you know the drill. Everything moves fast. When you’re cranking out thousands of bottles an hour, every second counts. The real headache? The start-up. Waiting for those infrared lamps to actually hit the right temperature is a drag, and it usually means a mountain of scrap bottles you have to purge before the line is actually dialed in.
Cutting the Lag
We wanted to fix that. We built these replacement lamps to kill the lag between hitting the “on” switch and getting full heat. In a rotary setup, the preform doesn’t hang around—it flies through the oven. If your lamp is too bulky or slow to warm up, the PET doesn’t hit that sweet spot (the glass transition temperature) evenly. To solve this, we tweaked the tungsten filament geometry and the thickness of the quartz. The result? The lamps hit operating temp way faster. It means fewer “cold” bottles in the bin and a much smoother start to your shift.
No Guesswork, Just Fit
These are simple drop-in replacements. We didn’t try to reinvent the wheel here; we matched the OEM footprint and electrical load exactly. You won’t have to worry about blowing a fuse or stressing your power supply. We also used high-purity quartz so the glass doesn’t cloud up over time. And since rotary environments vibrate like crazy, we made sure the connectors are tight. No arcing at the terminals, no random failures. It just stays connected.
The Honest Truth on Lifespan
Here’s the deal: when you push for faster heat and higher density, you’re running the filament closer to its limit. It’s what you need to keep up with SACMI’s high-speed rhythm, but it means you can’t just “set it and forget it.” You’ll want to keep a closer eye on your lamp hours. And a word of advice: don’t try to cheat an old lamp by cranking up the voltage. You’ll just burn it out. Also, keep your cooling blowers clean. If the sockets get too hot, your wiring will fry, and that’s a mess nobody wants to deal with on a Tuesday morning.
