Stop Letting Your Deck Oven Slow You Down
If you’ve ever run a bakery line, you know the feeling. Everything is moving great until it hits the deck oven. Suddenly, you’ve got a bottleneck. You want more product moving per minute, but you’re stuck waiting on slow convection heat to do its job. The fix? Stop trying to heat the air and start hitting the product directly. That’s where linear infrared (IR) lamps come in. Instead of waiting for the oven to warm up the room, these lamps shoot energy straight into the surface of the dough. It sets the crust and gets that perfect brown color way faster. The secret is in the power. We build these lamps to pack a lot of wattage into a small space. Because they use a shortwave spectrum, the heat actually penetrates the dough rather than just sitting on top. If you put a high-wattage tube in a tight spot, the thermal response is almost instant. It’s a huge win for your workflow. You can finally crank up the conveyor belt speed without worrying that the center of your bread is still raw. Built for the grind We use high-purity quartz glass for the filaments because, let’s be honest, industrial ovens are brutal. The glass needs to handle those rapid temperature swings without cracking. We also keep things simple. Most of our lamps use standard R7s or SK15 connectors. If a tube burns out, you don’t have to spend an hour rewiring a rack. You just pop the old one out, slide a new one in, and you’re back in business in minutes. A few things to keep in mind Now, pushing that much heat does put some stress on your gear. When you’re running at peak wattage to maximize your output, your housings and reflectors are taking a beating. Here is the trick: make sure your ventilation is actually working. You need to pull the ambient heat away from the electrical terminals. If those terminals get too hot, your lamps won’t last nearly as long. And do yourself a favor—check your reflector alignment every few months. You want that beam hitting the product, not the oven frame. It takes five minutes, but it saves you a lot of wasted energy.
