
Most convection ovens just blow hot air around. It works, sure, but it’s slow. If you’ve ever spent half your morning just waiting for an oven to preheat or watching a cycle drag on forever, you know the frustration. Air alone just isn’t fast enough. That’s why we add gold-coated infrared (IR) heaters into the mix. Think of them as a turbo boost for your heat. Why the gold? Standard quartz tubes throw out energy all over the place. By adding a thin layer of gold, we change how that heat behaves. Instead of wasting energy warming up the oven walls, the gold reflects the right wavelengths so the heat hits your product directly. It’s a much more direct hit. You get to your target temperature way faster. Getting the hardware right We build these tubes to handle heavy loads. Depending on how much space you have and what your power grid can handle, we tweak the wattage and voltage. If you go with a high-wattage tube, you get an immediate thermal punch. Just a heads-up: make sure your wiring and contactors can handle that initial surge of power when it kicks in. We also use standard industrial connectors, so when a tube eventually burns out—because they do—you can just swap it out and get back to work without a headache. The balancing act When you mix IR with convection, you get the best of both worlds. The IR gives you that initial “kick” to heat the surface rapidly, while the moving air makes sure the heat spreads evenly through the whole chamber. But there is a catch. IR is directional. If you cram your parts in too tightly, the gold tubes will only heat the front faces, leaving the middle of your batch ice cold. You have to find the sweet spot between the IR intensity and your airflow. If you get it wrong, you risk scorching the surface. Get it right, and you’ve just shaved a massive amount of time off your production.
